Insurance

Post by BRUCESTER33 »

Folks I want a Highlander or Super Stol. However, I'm being told a large portion of insurance underwriters are no longer going to write new policies on Just Aircraft as they have had too many accidents. I not AIG and global Aerospace said no before even hearing anything about the pilot. Has anybody recently got insured for a first time in Just Aircraft and if so what company wrote their policy?

I switched from Avemco to BWI last year, havent had any problems. BWI is much easier to work with, and cheaper.
As a whole, the back country style aircraft have had "a lot" of accidents recently. I have not heard that Just is being singled out... but I could see where the small number of planes compared to Supercubs" could lead to a higher "percentage of type" having accidents.
Kind of like the small town with one traffic accident being a higher per capita accident rate than a city...
I truely believe that the SuperStol is by far a safer airplane than any other bush plane on the market.

I just got a quote of $3747 for $60k hull value and 500hr pilot with low tw time, and 0 time in type (from Acrisure Aeospace, Kerrville).

I'm requesting the broker to run down a few options for liability only, and non-flying storage.
