Here's the engine I bought in August 2002. This guy near me sold it to me for $150.
$5500, 18 months later and completely rebuilt this is how it looks:

going with a rear starter makes the engine heavier.... mainly because the stock oil system must be modified. The starter gets in the way of the oil cooler and sometimes the oil filter. Look at a rear start engine to weigh at least 10lb heavier.
A stock oil system with front start is generally the best way to go if you are concerned with weight.

lovely angine but
I see you have no harmonic balancer are you not worried about torsional vibration snapping your crankshaft? this is from an old motor mechanic who's seen it happen sorry for the critisism of a very beautiful engine rebuild.
Look up in the sky is it a bird?, a plane? yup its a plane

There have been some broken cranks on these types of engines when using an extended prop hub and one case /i know of in a 3100cc engine. See: http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvai ... oblem.html
