Remove scraches from Polycarbonate plastic

Post by Tralika »

I tried this on some scrap pieces of my polycarbonate/lexan windshield material and it works. It can also be done with a heat gun but I think the torch works better. The goal is to heat up the surface without the heat penetrating down into the material which will cause small bubbles to form. I found heating a small area, maybe a couple of square inches, then taking the torch away for for 10 or 15 seconds to let the surrounding area cool worked best. It takes a longer but reduces the chance of causing bubble to form. I understand it also works on acrylic plastic

Wow! Would have never thought about heating the windows to remove scratches. Thanks for posting the video link.
