Flap “stall fences”

Post by BDA »

I Installed fences at the ends of my flaps today.
Still early in testing to say how much they help - but lets just say I won’t be taking them off.
First thing I noticed is that when I am at high angle of attack with alot of power it is more stable.
And that makes it all worth while.

It was possible to hang it on the prop before, but it was alot like trying to stand on a beach ball, now it feels predictable and stable.

First time in “heavier” (10knt dirrect xwnd) cross wind since putting these on - plane seemed easier to center - not sure how to describe it. Full flaps and half flap landings to a spot landing at under 30 mph were no issue.

Gotta say, I like your flap fences! How exactly/what process was involved in securing them to either side of the flap?

I drilled and riveted
But
The inboard fences should be screwed for easy removal for wing folding.
