EGT
Ok, I kinda feel like a heretic for writing this but don't burn me yet. I'm building a highlander with a Rotax 912. As most of you know the 912 automatically leans the mixture for best performance. Leaning by EGT is not required so is there a reason to install EGT thermo-couples and wiring. I'm a big believer in Simplicity. I'm monitoring CHT with the only two sensor GRT will allow me.
Plan not to be the first at the scene of the accident!

Re: EGT
You'll probably get different opinions but I did install the 4 EGT probes on my 912ULS. Rotax does have a spec assuming you drill the hole in the exhaust at the proper distance from the exhaust manifold. You'll get to know what normal is and if something is going on with one or more cylinders the EGT could be valuable. Running lean or rich, bad or weak plug, clogged air filter, etc...
Depending on were you live and fly you may need to mess with the needle position on the carb, the EGT's will help you confirm what you are trying to accomplish.
