Good points Shawn.

I probably should have done all this before covering, at least worked out where everything was to be positioned. I originally thought I would have a push/pull cable mounted next to my throttle for the parking brake, obviously before I knew how everything was connected. So, now I'm looking down around the seats for a suitable spot. I definitely don't want it in a place where it can be hit/bumped or mistakenly applied while moving around in the seat or operating the flaps.

I don't have Beringer brakes, but I do have a parking brake. Another builder warned me to put the parking brake control where I can see it in my normal scan. He didn't notice his parking brake was on, and he took off from a dirt/grass strip. The wheels skidded along and slowed his departure enough that he didn't get off in time and bent his bird.

I don't want to repeat that accident, so I took his advice. My parking brake is to the left of the throttle.

The cable is a standard push-pull with a square knob turned 45 degrees. I painted it screaming yellow so it looks like the one on our Freightliner, and put an Aircraft Spruce decal on it.

It'll be hard to miss.

I recently e-mailed Beringer as to why the park brake valve is not labeled or engraved with its ON/OFF positions...they replied “Please find attached a drawing of your parking brake with the open/closed areas.
This parking brake can be installed in different positions, as you can see either like you have on your Super Stol or upside down, which makes it difficult to engrave ON/OFF as suggested.”

NOT 90*

Anything up to and including 90 is OPEN

Looks like that leaves 18 degrees where is neither open or closed.

Don’t mean to hyjack- it’s kinda related. What is the hot setup to get brake lines down the SS gear leg? Seems like they should go inside but I’m reluctant to open any holes in the legs.

Use small pieces of hose around brake line then grip lock zip tie around gear leg
