.
I made parts for both sides as I was fabricating . its easier to match the other side that way .
.
After I got the lexan lip riveted in place on the front panel , it was time to layout the cut line on the door .

I used masking tape , it was easy to see in the shear . I just cut off the tape.

Then I got the door angle in place , it helps form the lexan around the curve of the fuselage .

The escape door is done ...
.
I could block the release spring with Styrofoam ?

The door can't move forward or back...it can't move inside or out.

It can only move "UP"...

Up is blocked by the spring/banding material.
.
That Brace" is a busy little piece .
It strengthens the door angle , it stops the door lock , and it acts like a little handle .

.
Next step is outside or the pole barn...

I need the wings on for the fit to the gap seal and enclosure .

That would be a good time for a new W&B
.
I will still put safety wire on the rear lexan panels

Going back ...and other details

First ...Yellow electric tape added a good touch , I also covered the yellow stripes with a big piece of clear tape.

The second picture has the angle to see where the door tab fits ...

Third pic has foam stuffed behind the release spring ... I took it out .

If I put something like that on it , I need to be able to pull it out easy . it really doesn't need anything .

More details...

Since I had a tab in the forward area of the other side , I thought it could use one on the door ,
It helps with a tight seal .
.

You can see the door handle "stop"...
Its a 1/2" stainless steel rivet , with an aluminum sleeve and nylon washer .
.
.
The handle is thicker but it flexed , I worked it with the Beader
its a lot stronger .

Outside today .

Its a rough cut ...ain't it always
.
I lucked out , I can get it from one of the drops .

. Oh.... The other lexan I forgot to take pictures , it looks good for a flight .

I'll cut this pattern ... I think I'll be able to set the plane up again tomorrow and work on fitting the gap seal , gap plug ...

.
I was able to do some fit-up before the gap seal was in place , using the leading edge tubes as a guide .
Then touch it up a little more after the gap seal was on.
.
It snaps into place ....cool

Hey Guys ,
I'm liking the fit... with the help of a heat gun, I bent the side lexan to wrap around the top piece .
I'll clean it up later , cut some off an round it a little .
.
The Goose is helping ... in fact , she's by my side while I'm logging this .
.
The last pic is a tape line... it tells me where to bend those back panels of lexan.

That will strengthen that area ...plus give me better access to the fuel tanks without making a little door .
It might be strong enough to connect the gap seal .

Seems I still had a little piece of lexan left ...
.
Prop blast area , so heavier hardware is needed
I made some aluminum clamps
.
The piece can be added to , or used to make a better one .
Its limited how close ...How much ?
