Carbon Fibre Propeller Maintenance

Post by copilot 1 »

Carbon Fibre Propellers:

What are accepted procedures for the repair of Carbon  Fibre propellers ? In particular mine is an Arplast from France but cannot obtain any help from the manufacturer. Prop is all carbon with no metal leading edge. At present there are stone nicks which should be dressed. The nicks are all small with the largest being about 1/4 inch wide.

This is a three blade on a Rotax 912 ULS         Any info on maintenance and repair would be appreciated .

                          Thanks Milt K

This repair is preferable to make the producer himself.
He has specific materials that he used earlier, accessories for the manufacture of the blades.
If not damaged blade spar, the problems with the repair should not be.
We always took the blade repair. But if the spar is damaged, it is safer just to replace the blade.
The manufacturer has a database with accurate data generated by each blade.
There is no problem to make an exact copy, and send you.
Best regards
