looking around, I never logged this "splice"

Lemme Splain...

Shipping was cheaper with UPS, BUT , there's an 8 ft limit...
This was when I ordered my wing tubing.
My flap torque tubes ended up being SHORT.
When I added the length it needed.
I cut the tube at 30 degrees , and I added a 3-1/2" insert.
The chromoly insert fit perfect, and help keep the torque tube splice straight .
I also seal welded the tubes at the end.
As an added bonus I think it helped strengthen the tube for clamping the control arm.
In the pictures you can also see the CAP I put at the end of the aileron torque tubes.

At the other end of the torque tube ...
My wear bearings are "spots" of silicone bronze...
Cheap , light, easy.
