Hole Finder / transfer tool - Homemade

Post by planecrazzzy »

OK... This is a VERY handy .... Simple tool...

I was trying to locate a hole BEHIND a sheet of aluminum...

I had some mickey mouse paper taped with a little pointy arrow...

CRAP !!!!!!

John Headtler told me about this simple tool , Yes , you can buy them...

But they are simple to make...

I got a piece of "Banding Material"

Folded it in half... Leave the folded part slightly rounded...

( Don't pound it flat... hard to open it then... )

After you folded it , and the two ends line up pretty good...

Drill a hole through both pieces...

Then... spread them slightly and weld a nail in ONE hole....
.
Grind to suit....

Now you have a hole finder...

Slip it over the piece your trying to drill... locate the hole with the nail...

The exposed hole... Shows the exact location on the outside of the sheet your

trying to transfer the hole onto...
.
You can make several sizes... Longer or larger nail locator...

Or you can just buy them.... What fun is that....
