Triangle blocking

Post by planecrazzzy »

After sanding the Blocking that was out of square  ( from ACS )

I've got half of it done , epoxy drying...

Just thought I'd throw in a picture.... You might notice the taper on the ends of the blocking.

That's just to keep them as long as possible , but out of the way of the fabric ....

More Triangle reinforcing

Post by planecrazzzy »

Here's some more pictures of the blocking...

They're done now....

In fact , at this point.....I need to order stuff , I think I'll put the cables in the wing next.

I need to look at what I'm gonna order , probably won't be ordering the "Kits" anymore... Some of the stuff
is just too expensive , and I can get it localy...

Sealing Wing

Post by planecrazzzy »

Hey Guys,
After making all the things that attach to the wing....

Wing Tip, Compression Strut , Lift Strut Brackets , Wing Connectors , Flaps , Ailerons and Cable rigging...

Everything was taken off ,  to seal the wood with West System Epoxy....

I did some light sanding  ,  and Thinned the Epoxy with Lacquer Thinner...

The wing isn't completly sealed yet...
                                                         Gotta Fly...

I'm finding out that the epoxy after mixed, should be thinned with lacqer thinner over 50% to get smooth coats...
and only coat in the flat position....I had it too thick and tried to coat too much , and had alot of sanding to clean up
drips and sags/ripples..... Thinner - slower is faster
