Hey Guys ,

It fits good, I will add more aluminum to this base and connect it to each side (Somehow)
I'm thinking I might not need the bracket that I made earlier

.
Still looking for 6061-T6 sheet metal in .032...But shipping is a killer....I actually thought the shipping estimator at the web site went berserk.
So I called...My 4ft X 4ft piece weighed 7lbs. Cost was $93 bucks...... SHIPPING WAS $230.00 ....Total over $300 for a 4X4 sheet ?
I need to stop by while I'm in the cities , Then it's $93
.
Meanwhile, I started looking at the front area.
Here's some paper mock-up pictures.

So... I was down to the cities .
Stopped at Discount Steel and bought a 4x4 sheet of .032

They've made a lot of changes since I was there last , I was supposed to wait at my car and they will load it.
I looked at all the stamping ......040....hmm

They looked .....No .032 in stock......WTF.....crap

I already paid for it ($99.88)... so they would let me know when it arrived ...

Ok, they called me later in the week ...told me next week ...
now it's favor time .
Since "I" couldn't get it when I was there ...and now it's late ...
How about a free Cut ($15) so my Daughter can bring it up north in her car ...

They were told not to cut across the grain .... haven't seen it yet .
My daughter has two pieces of 6061-T6 2X4 ea...and headed north this weekend .

Yippee

Gotta Fly...

PS I got my aluminum in great condition , they cut it correctly .
My daughter learned about the grain in metals

I have a little progress.
The back piece connects to both sides...one c leco each
Not only does fabrication need planning to perform...
But also to remove easy too.

Hey Guys,
The pieces need custom bending...They won't fit in my Brake.

I made a 40" knife edge for my Brake...Same height as the Fingers for easy exchange.

But fingers won't work on these bends.

Anywho, I still have some of that 1/4" Chromoly X 5 in wide

I just used another foot of the stuff.

For a bottom base I used two aluminum blocks (one inch thick)

Separated by two pieces of key stock...1/4" X 1/4" ...Solid

Hey Guys,
So you can see the base was solid , I used better clamps because they needed to be out of the way
.
Something else I took a picture of ,... I snuck in a little crease by using that wood for crushing

Hey Guys,

So I asked around... no biggie about "the cut"...

I figured this was the shortest distance...and the overlap helps strengthen/seal the weaker side.

The other side will be the same style.

Some filing ...more filing

I put a bracket to an existing block threaded hole.
I made the brace out of 6061...Probably should have been SS
Might have to replace it someday.
.
I am looking into Dzus fasteners...or Quarter turn fasteners...
I want this baffling to be easy on/off
.
I've USED a lot of Dzus fasteners...but never Fabricated anything with them.
So ...Crash course in the world of quick connects.
.
I've almost narrowed down my first order (and spares)
I can think of a lot of uses for them.

Not the heavy spring loaded with the built in base...or the spring held with a steel plate...
Some of those simple slotted recess can hold something secure ,but minimize hardware...Spring .rivets, stud
Throw in a plastic o-ring to keep the stud from falling out of it's hole...
I want SMALLER sizes than I'm finding...#3 for now seems to be the smallest without Jacking the price.

Gotta Fly...
