Hey Guys,
.
I'm sneaking up on it...
.a lot of garbage hanging on it....
First , I need to sight in where the banding material will Clear it's motion , and trim those box tabs.
A tight fit there keeps the filter frame secured...
The clips just hold it in that spot.
.
So the clips "SIDE" is actually the main pressure point...
Good...
.
Gotta Fly...
.
.
Just a note... After thinking about the pressure on the side of the clip... I put a little more tension on them...THEN marked the tab I will be trimming.
I didn't really think about it until writing this log update... Then I couldn't stop thinking about it... HA.......
now a "Notch" at the bottom... Where the tab is trimmed... Will act as a Clip LOCK/keeper type action...well..... I hope.

Hey Guys,

Screen Seals good,
.
This lay-out Was what I was thinking about from the beginning...
I experimented with a circle lay out... No Joy
.
I think this has a good "Deflective" angle...

Hey Guys,
Drill a Hole and start Milling away with a 90 degree Die Grinder and Medium sized Carbide Bit ( Keep adding anti stick stuff/waxy )
I try to lock down the piece while I'm using the die grinder.... I find shaving off the aluminum in a planning type motion works best.
Not just for the material... But the Carbide bit too... She gets warm and melts into the anti-stick stuff.
.
From here I'm using a file to clean up the lines and detail the corner radius... Chainsaw files work great.

Gotta Fly...

Hey Guys,
.
I got some Ideas with Masking tape...
Maybe I could just cover it wit DUCT TAPE ?
.
I'm gonna take the cowl off and look at it more...
I'm debating what material to make this shape from...
I might Laminate Balsa wood on an Aluminum Base Plate.
The piece needs to be able to deflect or take the hit...
at the same time , channel the air...
.

i might tinker with the scat.

I have a weight on the whole system...( except the Light filter w/OIL )
.
Then I started working on Supplying the Hot air...
I had to Roll a couple tubes...
One for the SCAT
The other one I planned to bang against the exhaust and see what happens...

It's adjustable...Sorta , the front Wind diverter piece is bendable.
Or I can drill holes in it if needed.

Hey Guys,
Well, the exhaust wrap , SCAT and all the clamps added up to Ten ounces
That means the whole system weighs only One pound Twelve and a half ounces
The angle looks like support during engine shake.
Will it stand the test...That will get sorted out during Run-ups
.
I should monkey with the cowl scoop...

There is safety wire around some middle area , aluminum welding rod helps.
.
I made an angle to rivet opposite the grill...
The cowl seemed to be flimsy in this area...not anymore.
I used ss pop rivets... I was able to use some aluminum rivets.
.
It might be shiny now... but it all gets painted white... filter/scuff pad too
.
Gotta Fly...
.
PS I might add... the two outside holes existed before... I just tried to use them...
I make this note because after I look at it... looks like it was layed out during an earthquake.
The curve ads strength, the rivets were going to be smaller and flush... Hmmm, pop....done.

Hey Guys,
I started working on the exhaust pipes and ended up figuring out how to hook up the control cables... just a High Tensile Wire.
.
I watched one of those EAA tips... great for nice ends with bearing connections ...
https://video.eaa.org/detail/videos/fir ... H_DATE:ASC

The tension was tight enough to hold the wire , but let it swivel...
How I made two from scratch... I copied the one I had from Cessna...But I change how they work with washers.
The way EAA Explained the order of the washers was exactly how mine were.
But it wasn't working right.
.
How I look at it... With washers and half washers , I can shim it just right to have slight clearance on the side that needs to piviot,
but locking down the wire at the same time.
Also, I try to sandwich the wire with brass washers , then regular fat A/N washer on the brass one.
.
I going to change the factory washers so the swivel action has clearance, but the wire is locked in place tight.
It's the mixture control...
.
They don't call for back-up , but I made some quick wire stops.
These work... But I'd rather have a deeper nut to drill straight through, but still have threads for the jam nut/screw
I need to dig through my R/C stuff for axle/wheel set screw things...light and simple
.
