Hello from North Arkansas

Post by Jlwright »

Hi everyone. I currently fly an RV-9A that I built but am looking for an ultralight or LSA that can be kept at home with folding wings. I know Kolb has a very good reputation and have folding wings. I am looking forward to learning more about these planes. Thanks for allowing me to participate.

I have a Kolb Firestar II...
.
Yes , I fold the wings for cheap Hanger Fees...

But transporting it each time would be a pain...

But then again... I don't have a fully enclosed trailer...
.
It "can" be slapped together quick...
.
But I take my time... inspecting as I go...
.
I still do the pre flight inspection...
.
But I'd rather not rush thru Pins and Safety clips just to get in the air faster...
.
Sometimes , for early morning departures to a fly-in...

I'll set it up the night before.... Tie it down,

Then just pre flight before leaving in the morning...
.
.
Kolb has a good reputation for strength...

and... they fly like a plane...
.
They must be pretty good... Homer has one in the Smithsonian Museum...

Sometimes you just have to take the leap
and build your wings on the way down...
