weight of aluminum skin vs. fabric

Post by Ericklee »

Does anybody know the weight of aircraft aluminum (skin) vs. the weight of medium grade ceconite after sealing it? I'm considering whether to skin the doors and surrounding all in fabric, or aluminum, both of which I have adequate supply. My lean is toward fabric everywhere I can on my Buttercup.
Thoughts?

IIRC Miles used doped fabric as a streamlined rear cowling material on a small twin engine WW2 transport that had Gipsys buried in the wing.

And as I recall some caught fire.
