W10 questions

Post by skyguy »

Hi, guys. I've ordered the W10 plans and can't wait for them to arrive. In anticipation, can anyone tell me what scale the plans use? I didn't see anything about that on Aircraft Spruce's Web site and forgot to ask.

Also, I've seen the term, "Clement mods" used frequently, and know this refers to Jim Clement who can't stop building Tailwinds (bless him!). But I can't find anything specific on what the mods are or how to get more information about them. Can anyone help me with this?

Last question (at least for now). I'm helping a friend build an RV and have become comfortable working with metal wings. So I'm leaning hard toward Callbie Wood's metal ones. Can anyone tell me if there's a weight or speed penalty compared to the wood wings? Also, would the cost to build them be reasonably close to the wooden ones?

Appreciate everyone's help, and am looking forward to working with you guys when my plans arrive.

Thanks,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,
I thought I was answering your "other" message , I see this is a different one...

Your going to need the Tailwind address....

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TailwindForum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My Buttercup Forum can also come in handy.... Because I have so many pictures ( about 1,000 )

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Buttercup-STOL/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When you go to the Tailwind site.... ask the questions you have here....

But try not to ask too many questions in one email....

I find that people get better answers , when the stretch it out a bit....

Callbie and Jim C are on the Tailwind site.... Jim C's mod package is around $55 now...

and Callbie still selling Wing prints....

I'll search out your other message now...

and build your wings on the way down...

Thanks, Mike. I tried to set up an account on Yahoo last week but haven't heard back from the administrator as promised. I may have to do it again.

I appreciate your advice on asking questions and will try to follow it. It makes sense.

Thanks again,

Bruce

The Jim Clement Mods as found on the Tailwind forum

Clement Mods:

The Clement Taildragger mods consist of the door opening and rear spar
carry-through tube offset drawings only. Both give more leg and headroom. This
set also includes about 56 construction photos. Price $55.00 includes shipping.

If building a trigear, you will need the TD set also. Trigear set includes
landing gear and engine mount drawings. Also about 24 additional photos.
Price $105.00 includes both TD and Trigear sets and shipping.

Thanks, TD! That's very helpful information. I'm trying to get an account at Yahoo! groups but so far, haven't heard back that I've been accepted. When I am, I'll be making better contact with Jim and Callbie Wood who has the metal wing plans.

Thanks again!

Bruce
