IO-520 high fuel pressure

Post by duster »

Any thoughts on why the fuel pressure on my IO-520 is so high? It was normal, and on a takeoff run one morning the fuel pressure jumped up about 2 gallons per hour. I checked for plugged injectors--they were clean. So I started leaning out the mixture to normal fuel flow. Then a couple weeks ago, the fuel pressure (on takeoff) went up another 4-6 gallons per hour. I checked the injectors again--clean. Also the fuel distribution spider tubes have good flow with electric aux fuel pump on. I'm at a loss as to what can cause this extremely high fuel pressure. By the way-- it's not just the guage as engine runs VERY rich if not leaned. Thanks for any input. James Mills
