EFIS durability

Post by BlainS »

Wondering if there has been any reports of EFIS failures due to shock abuse. Building a SS XL. I know TK shocks soften the return to earth but not sure if all EFIS manufacturers have our application in mind.

Probably 60-70% of flying and landings are off airport on bumpy gravels bars and mountain meadows. I've had dual Dynon EFISs in my Highlander and a single in my cub and I've never had a failure. The systems they are putting together now days are very robust. You won't need to worry about that when you're having fun in you SS XL. :D

I have an Advanced 4500 in my RV8. It has had a couple of failures that may or may not have been related to shock. I’m not sure AFS would have treated my repair different had it been in a SuperStol.

I've been beating up the G5 for almost 2 years now... No issues so far.
