Superflite Mixing Ratio

Post by mhcrowder »

We've been doing some priming of parts, but seem to be going through more catalyst then expected. The Mixing ratio in the Superflite manual indicates 4:1 (PrimerBase:Catalyst). The manual doesn't indicate if this is a by volume ratio or a by weight ratio. I thought I remember Billy, at PlaneFunAirplanes, saying he used weight, but not 100% on that.

So, those using Superflite, what mixing ratio strategy did you use? By Volume or By Weight?

Don’t know about superflite, but Stewart’s has 2 different ratios in their instructions: one for volume and one for weight.

Yes, they are different.

Anyway, best to check the SF manual. The superflite manual I have seems to indicate volume, though it is not specific.

We've poured through the Superflite manual and we can't find any mention of weight or volume ratio. Will probably have to contact Superflite on Monday.

Yeah, it says “one part something” to “one part something” etc., etc. this IMPLIES by volume, but does not specifically say so.
