Anyone using Acme Aero Fab shocks on their Highlander? I'm thinking about replacing my bungees.

I have their shocks on my Superstol and they've been great. Those guys will treat you right. That's what I'd do if I had a Highlander.

I run 2" TK1 by Shockmonster shocks on my Highlander with Extreme Gear and 29" Airstreaks. Strong but supple response. Excellent customer support.

Here's their site and a picture of my plane with the original TK1 shocks installed. I have the newer version installed now and love them.

I also have the original TK-1 shocks. Huge upgrade from the bungees with excellent customer service. 5 years and 300 hours.

I will have Acme Aero Shocks on my Highlander before It's first flight.

How did you decide between Acme Aero and TK Shock Monster?

Good morning Richard, I have nothing against Tony's product at TK1. I feel that Acme and the TK1 shocks are comparable. Acme's have an extra redundant seal internally which I like. But lastly I think Acme's are better looking!

Hey Dane, I the they are about the same price for either.

Cheers,
Bruce

Eric Robinson from ACME Aero recently quoted me $2780. He also provided a study comparing the performance of their product against the bungee setup, AOSS units and TK1's.

I sent my Superstol ACME back to ACME for the AD Just emailed me, ACME said the top out plate and nut were under the AD, and apparently everything else was updated with latest improvements. Seals, valving and new oil, sounded like it wasn’t really nesasary but since I’m still building I sent them to ACME. I also have ACME on my Chinook ultra light but have only maybe 10-15 hrs on them but totally love them, I had one landing in a bad bad crosswind windshear 2-3 months ago...like I was dropping like a rock and hit the ground at full power with my 80 hp 912 and the ACME’s soaked it up...and I hit with the downwind tire first and hard...if I had the original suspension I think I would have broke something...got it back in the air after the hard touch and landed in next field, no damage.
