was disappointed that they didn't have the 103 at the show.
did notice that the Super XL flew basically non stop when they were allowed to fly. very impressive.
maybe they dropped the idea of an ultralight

Re: no Just103 at sun n fun
I’m not surprised. I was very interested in the project when they first introduced it. Since then there is not been much work on it. My guess Is they could not really make it a true part 103 aircraft, with the price that could sell. The configuration I would be interested in, would in no way fit in part 103 weights. As I recall, even with the skinny tires it was still slightly overweight, And the only way you could get it under weight was to add the allowance for a parachute. Again, my guess is that would put the price point north of 20 grand. There are a lot of 2 seat Taildragger’s in that price range.
I would still would like to have one. Bugs in the teeth and all.

The way to get the weight down would be to make the tail boom carbon fiber. The strength would go up and would cut the weight considerably easily putting it in the part 103 category. Of course, the price would sky rocket!

Even cheaper to just fill the boom with helium.

Dane, Back in College I was building my first Pitts, but the Physics lab I was working in, only had easy access to hydrogen. At the end of welding up my fuselage, I had one last weld to close up the structure. I had the same idea, “Let’s make this lighter”! My eyelashes, eyebrows and hair grew back in about four months.

Also, hydrogen makes a lousy substitute for shielding gas
