Emerging Lifesaving Technologies ELT?
Has anyone here installed one of these? If so, pros, cons, opinions? Thinking about one of these because of the built-in GPS. Curious to hear from someone that actually has installed one.

Re: Emerging Lifesaving Technologies ELT?
It's between this one and the Kannad Integra Easy for me. Prices are similar. Both have the embedded GPS unit.
I like that this unit is made in the USA, but the remote switch doesn't fit in the space I'd allocated. Their switch is nearly 4" deep, plus a D9 connector. The Kannad is 1.69" deep plus the D9 connector.

Thanks for the response. I did not realize the switch was so large. I guess it;s not a problem as long as you take it into consideration and have room for it. I'll check out the Kannad Integra too. Thanks.

Re: Emerging Lifesaving Technologies ELT?
I just installed a Kannad Integra to replace my Ameri-king 406. I got a whole 6 months out of the Ameri-king before it failed! Plus the AD requirements that started at the end of last month made it worthless. Kannad made a replacement kit that even matched the panel cutout I already had.
Another plus of the Kannad is it has an internal antenna so when the crash rips off external aircraft mounted antenna it will still work.

Re: Emerging Lifesaving Technologies ELT?
I just ordered the Kannad Integra from Spruce. I chose the whip Antenna. So the Question: Did you use a RS-232 cable to a GPS antenna? The reason that I chose an internal GPS was to avoid a connection to my main GPS.
Thanks,
Bruce

Re: Emerging Lifesaving Technologies ELT?
I installed a Kannad and also connected it to my Dynon GPS. That way in the event of an engine failure I can hit the ELT switch and it will instantly send my GPS position. Without that connection, the ELT would need to first acquire satellites before it can send GPS position, something that is not guaranteed after a forced landing.
