Hi Matt, Are you building up the Apex , or is Steve Henry doing it? What are you using for covering? I'm certainly enjoying the Building process.

Cheers,

It's actually 5 gallons. Same one discussed here http://www.wingsforum.com/viewtopic.php ... ank#p50275. Steve sells them.

Hi Bruce,

I plan to have Steve build up the Apex after they finalize the gearbox. Sounds like it's getting close. I'm covering with the Polyfiber system. I like how forgiving it is :D

Finalized my panel design with XPanel 5000. Really like that program. Saved me alot of time. Final JPG is attached.

Matt,
You may have some deveation problems with your compass all the way over on the right side of the panel. It's going to be right next to the steel airframe. Not sure if you'be able to correct it.

Compas should be dead Center, equal amount of steel on either side.

Should be center, but that is assuming you ever look at it. If you have a remote magnetometer for your glass I’m not even sure there is a legal requirement for a “wet” compass, you need a “magnetic direction indicator” which I believe the glass fulfills per 91.205

If you are ELSA and don’t care about night flight you don’t even need that.

If you want to read more search magnetic compass location.

I tried to install a wet compass in my Highlander but the steel cage around the cockpit was magnetized to the extent of throwing the compass off by 45 degrees. I could hold it near my face, where it read correctly, then move it into position and watch it swing. I have a iFly moving map and that is all I need. If you are a day VFR LSA homebuilt you aren't required to have a compass.

Thanks to everyone for the compass feedback! Would have responded sooner but have been enjoying sunshine and mojitos in Key West :D Since I have the iFly and only fly VFR, I will probably remove it. Thought about the overhead position, but prefer not to block view if possible.
