IVO Prop - 3 Blade / 2 Blade

Post by planecrazzzy »

Hey Guys,
Just a few comments on how much "I" like 2 Blade , over 3 blade......( IVO Prop )

I ordered the "Blocks" from IVO ( they fill the space on the hub when you remove a blade )
They were "cheap"....

My cruise is quite a bit faster now...  and I have a Navman Fuel flow .....I can see my Fuel flow has DROPPED...

Now I go FASTER , on less fuel

I used to be "pushing it" on a 100 mile leg..... Now , I have a good reserve ....( as long as I'm not in a bad Headwind )

The only place I see that has "lost" performance is Take-off Climb....and it's NOT that big of a loss....

The reason that I went with 3 blade in the first place , ....it's said that 3 blade is Smoother....

I DON'T notice a differance ..... at all !

Just thought I'd pass this along...

We almost do not use two-bladed propellers.
Trilobe more comfortable, have a low level of noise and vibration, greater traction.
Recently, Hungarian pilots got traction in Rotax-503 159 kg instead of 125 (saber propeller diameter of 63 ").
Who will refuse from this?
American pilot reported recently that the increase traction on his trike was 25 kg compared with straight blades.
Who will refuse from this?

I have it set-up back to 3 blade...
.
Slower cruise ,

But quicker take-off...
and it slows approach.

That has been more help at getting in and out of small grass strips

Your information is very useful. Therefore, we always have 2-blade propellers in production. They are especially suitable for Jabiru engines. But the blades have to be made especially durable.
