coil for an early 90's 912

Post by mstoneking »

I have had a miss in my engine for awhile now and feel that the problem is a bad coil. I can not afford to upgrade to the new style system and hope someone may have one of these older coils that is still good. The number stamped on mine is 3375 across the top and the letters OJ across the bottom.

I have been told there is a possibility that it could also be a grounding issue? What i am seeing is the two spark plugs on the top side of the front two cylinders are both fouled and both of these plug wires go back to the same coil. The engine starts and runs fine but just has this annoying miss that translates into a vibration you can feel throughout the whole plane and actually see it in the mains while airborne.

Try Lockwood Aviation. They have a tech department that should be able to help you trouble shoot over the phone. It's better than just replacing parts.

Good luck,
