Valve seat replacement.

Post by mikey127 »

Got a manual, got a motor, now it begins.

I have decided to start with the heads. No particular reason, just sounded like a good place to start. I hace studied the manual very closely. It is almost impossible to even consider not replaceing the valve seats. Most of the folks I have talked to consider this to be the biggest problem with the corvair motor. But what I am having a hard time doing is finding someone to do them in my area. Couple of shops I've talked to say they haven't seen a corvair head for 25 years. Sorry, don't want them working on my stuff. I have come to the conclusion that I may have to ship them off somewhere to get this done. Its been a while since I have done valve work, and I lack the tools to do so. And I've never done valve seats before. :?

Anyone care to share where they had head work done?

Anyway. Thanks for stoping by.

Mike
